Visa and authorisation for a trip to Canada
- French, Belgian and Swiss citizens wishing to travel to Canada are exempt from visa requirements for a visit lasting up to 90 days. However, they will have to present an authorisation called the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). This process is completed online and costs $ 7 Canadian.
- For nationals of these countries, optical or biometric passports are not compulsory. These documents must be valid for at least one day beyond the date on which they depart for their point of origin.
- Any person under 18, considered a minor, must meet the same requirements as all travellers to Canada. Therefore, if this person is a Belgian, French or Swiss citizen, they will have to present their passport, will not need a visa and will have to pay the eTA authorization.
- If you are travelling to Canada with a minor of whom you are not the parent or guardian, you must present an authorisation signed by their parents or legal guardians. For other travellers, the entry requirements are the same. They will need to present a passport and an eTA authorisation.
