Visit the Cherating Turtle Sanctuary
The Cherating Turtle Sanctuary was established in 1972 as a turtle hatchery and in 1998, it was officially opened to the public. Run by the Department of Fisheries, the centre hatches the turtle eggs and protects the hatchlings till they are old enough to return to the sea. At the centre, you can view their exhibits and learn about the various turtle species in Malaysia. You can also watch little turtle hatchlings and if you're here from June to October, you can release them back into the sea, and watch the next generation of turtles in the wild.
