There’s no denying that Mexico is a magical place for the traveller with its feast of fiestas, ancient ruins, amazing food and gorgeous beaches. But what if you’re with the family or travelling to Mexico with a toddler? The great news is that Mexico with the kids will be a brilliant experience for everyone.

Park life

Mexico is well known for its superb theme parks. These areas of lush greenery are full of exciting things for the whole family to do. Probably the best park is Xcaret at Playa Del Carmen that combines wildlife, ancient ruins, restaurants and even zip-lining to make it a great day out for people of all ages.

Parque Xplor was created by the same people as Xcaret and offers a jungle adventure where you can zip-line around the trees or explore underground rivers as you all do your best impressions of Indiana Jones.

If you want some family fun on the sea then Parque de los Sueños is just a short boat ride from Cancún. Here you'll find a huge swimming pools, hair-raising water slides and a whole host of water sports. Adults can relax in an infinity pool with views of the ocean and there’s kid-friendly food available in the on-site restaurants.

Family resorts

Looking for an all-inclusive luxury base where you can explore the country while keeping everyone entertained? Mexico is full of family resorts that offer the ideal solution. Club Med has two brilliant places, one in Cancún on the Caribbean and another in Ixtapa which faces the Pacific.

You’ll get all the benefits of the Club Med experience, including entertainment, sports, restaurants and places to simply chill out. At the same time, you're in a great spot to explore the region. We can arrange day trips for you or simply take the family to explore Mexico for yourself. If the kids start getting bored then they can spend the day at the resort having fun while you get immersed in the local culture. Or you can all just flop down on the nearby amazing beach if you decide to spend some downtime together.

Toys toys toys

Museo La Esquina (translated as The Corner Museum) can be found in the charming little town of San Miguel de Allende. Enjoy a stroll around the streets before heading for a treasure trove of more than three thousand toys collected over 50 years.

There are five permanent exhibitions of handmade toys that are unlike anything the kids will have seen at home. Watch them be entranced with bright colours and ingenious designs. You can even take part in a workshop to see how the toys are made.

Beware: getting the little ones out of the gift shop could be a strain on your muscles and wallet.

Dive into history

There’s no reason why the entire family can’t enjoy Mexico’s many amazing ruins such as Chichen Itza. Their imaginations will be sent into the stratosphere as they explore towering pyramids and mysterious decorations. It might even be the start of a lifelong love of history.

Afterwards, visit one of Mexico’s many beautiful cenotes and enjoy a dive into the warm, crystal clear waters. Your kids won’t be expected to snorkel but they’re going to love the poolside experience and the surrounding stalactites. Lucky you’ll get to spend some quality time in the water or on a lounger!
