We’ve chosen six of the best golf courses you could try on your holiday.

Teeth of the Dog, Dominican Republic

Stay at our Punta Cana resort in the Dominican Republic to experience one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean, Teeth of the Dog is a rugged joy that stretches around the Dominican Republic’s coastline. It’s a tough challenge for even the most seasoned pro, with doglegs aplenty and other intriguing obstacles. The back tee on the 8th is even set on a tiny island in the sea.

But the rewards are immense. Each hole is an eye widening beauty and a sliced shot could see your ball heading down a cliff face. With the wind blowing in, off the coast there’s no such thing as a straightforward hole but even if you end horribly over par you’ll still remember the round for a very long time to come.

Tour d'Opio, france

Swing away under glorious Occitan skies when you bring your clubs to the Tour D’Opio course based at Club Med Opio en Provence. This compact 9-hole course is ideal for beginners and experts alike. The surrounding views of vineyards and olive trees are classic Southern France with variations in height around the course to keep things interesting.

The driving range and practice greens in particular, are impressive and allow you to find your groove before starting a game properly. Beginners can join the school for lessons while veterans master their short irons and putting on the 3 and 4 par holes.

Balaia,Portugal

Golfing in the Algarve rightly has a tremendous reputation with its year round sunshine and carefully constructed courses. It only takes five minutes by shuttle to reach Balaia Golf Club from the Club Med Da Balaia resort, a nine hole challenge that oozes quality and sophistication.

A series of par 3s allows you to work on approach shots and putting techniques. Get set to tee off from the first with views of an old wooden bridge dividing two lakes whilst in the background you’ll see a blue sheet of glorious sea. If you need a little more practice then PGA professionals are available for hire so you can learn from the best. The clubhouse itself is magnificent and the perfect place to end a perfect round.

Tamarina, Mauritius

The glorious island of Mauritius is also home to some great golf courses. One of the best of these can be found near Club Med’s Albion Villas on the West Coast. Situated at the foot of the Mauritian mountains, Tamarina is a new 18-hole course designed by renowned Zimbabwean golfer Peter Matkovich.

It exudes character with its rocky and wooded surroundings that offer amazing views of Tamarin Bay and the spectacular mountains that lie behind. You’ll be able to test yourself with some demanding par 5s including a tee shot over the swirling River Rempart. There are also some fun drops and plenty of bunkers to be avoided. You’ll come away with a sense of satisfaction as well as joy in the beauty on show.

La Palmyre, France

Based right next to Club Med La Palmyre, you can experience one of the finest looking courses on France’s Atlantic coast. Based in the heart of a thriving pine forest, prepare to gaze out on a romantic seascape as you line up your next shot.

This nine hole course is accessible to everyone and as you would expect with [Club Med] (), a golfing school gives neophytes the chance to try a new sport. Created by the architect Olivier Dongradi, the fairways undulate gently with the trees providing protection from the wind except on hole 7 which sees you drive in parallel with the beach. The restaurant lounge bar is right next to the course for that all important drink on the 19th.

Marrakech, Morocco

Shaded from the desert sun, within the peaceful confines of Morocco’s oldest palm grove, Club Med Marrakech La Palmeraie enjoys access to not one, not two, but six professional golf courses. There’s also a driving range, putting green, pitch and putt, practice bunker and pro golfing shop in-resort, making this a golfer’s paradise

Though it’s hard to choose between Marrakech’s beautiful courses, the Golf Royal takes the prize. The 18-hole Old Course designed by Gery Watine and Thierry Sprecher is one of the oldest in the kingdom and is blessed with lush vegetation and astounding views of the Atlas mountains. Its narrow fairways demand precision, making this an excellent technical course for golfers looking for a challenge.

Wherever and whenever you jet off, Club Med offers a variety of world class golf courses for novices through to pros, all year round.
