As per the latest announcement (made 23 September by the Japanese Government), tourists (aged 18years or over) wishing to enter Japan are required to have the official International Travel Vaccination Certificate issues by the Australian Federal Government. This certificate must display you have had 3 doses.
As per the latest announcement (made 07 September by the Japanese Government), only the below vaccines are approved.
- COMIRNATY intramuscular injection / Pfizer
- Spikevax intramuscular injection / Moderna
- Vaxzevria intramuscular injection / AstraZeneca
- JCOVDEN intramuscular injection / Janssen
- COVAXIN / Bharat Biotech
- Nuvaxovid intramuscular injection / Novavax
COMIRNATY intramuscular injection / Pfizer includes COMIRNATY RTU intramuscular injection / Pfizer. For the JCOVDEN intramuscular injection/Janssen, only in case of primary series, one dose is considered equivalent to two doses. ※ Doses will also be considered valid even if each dose are not the same vaccine. For example, COMIRNATY manufactured by Fosun Pharma or BioNTech, Covishield and COVOVAX manufactured by the Serum Institute of India are treated as identical to COMIRNATY intramuscular injection / Pfizer, Vaxzevria intramuscular injection / AstraZeneca and Nuvaxovid intramuscular injection / Novavax, respectively.
